On Saturday 19 September 2026, at 1pm people from across Aotearoa
will come together in Auckland to stand up for nature and defend
conservation land.
The Conservation Amendment Bill would make it easier to exploit
and even sell off public conservation land. From forests and
wetlands to rivers, coastlines and mountain ranges, the places
that belong to Aotearoa are under threat.
New Zealanders love conservation land: it’s where we tramp, hunt,
holiday, and appreciate nature. It’s part of who we are.
Conservation lands are one of our greatest defences against
climate breakdown. They’re also the last refuge for endangered
native species that are fighting to survive.
Beyond what these rare wild places do for us, they have a right to
exist simply for their own sake - because the value of nature
cannot be measured by a ledger.
This Government has steadily dismantled environmental and climate
protections - from the Fast-track Approvals Act, to the Fisheries
Amendment Bill, to the new RMA bills.
This election, politicians from every political party need to hear
that people from all walks of life want our environment protected,
not exploited.

Auckland to stop plans to mine the most highly protected
